Tips for borders and sashing construction:
Often borders and sashings have mild to moderate waviness to them resulting in a quilt that will not hang or lay flat. Waviness adds complexity to the longarming process. This can necessitate the need for pleats and/or tucks to be added. A simple solution for this is to use the Measure and Sew approach vs the Slap and Sew method. Following, is a link to a great resource for creating great borders and showing the difference between the two
methods. You can find it here on Quilt Borders Tutorials about understanding the why of quilting borders.
