This process is integral to a positive outcome on the longarm frame. Please contact us if you have any questions about preparing your quilt top.
-
Excess threads have been trimmed from the back of the topper.(Especially important if dark threads or fabric are seamed with very light fabrics)
-
Please indicate on the quilt which is the top edge - A piece of painters or masking tape works well to mark this area
-
Sometimes seams around the edge of the quilt come apart which can later cause curled up edges when long arm quilting. Consider stitching 1/8" around the entire quilt edge to prevent this occurrence.
-
If final edge is to be scalloped please do this after the longarm stitching is done.
-
Embellishments such as buttons, pins etc. must be sewn on after longarm stitching is done.
-
Give it a good iron before sending it.
-
Backing must be a minimum of 5" wider on all sides. For example a quilt top that measures 60"x 80" should have minimum backing size of 70" x 90".
-
If the backing is seamed, please use a generous 1 1/2" seam allowance, backstitch at the ends and iron open.
-
Please leave the selvages if using wideback backing as this provides a nice straight edge to load on the frame.
-
Please mark the top of the backing if there is a preference for direction. (Painters or masking tape is great)
